There are no regional exceptions that allow larger sunscreen containers in carry-on. Stick and powder sunscreens, however, are not classified as liquids and have no size restriction anywhere.

Sunscreen is treated exactly like any other liquid or cream at the security checkpoint. If the bottle is within the 100ml limit and fits in your clear liquids bag alongside your other toiletries, it passes without special attention. Screeners do not give sunscreen any extra scrutiny, but they will enforce the container size limit the same way they do for everything else.

The simplest options are a sunscreen stick or a sunscreen powder, both of which are unrestricted since they are not classed as liquids. If you prefer lotion or spray sunscreen, decant it into a travel-size bottle of 100ml or less before your trip and include it in your clear liquids bag. Buying a local brand at your destination is another easy workaround if you are packing light.
